RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING
ON THE POTENTIAL ASSESSMENT OF COSTS OF DUST CONTROL
TREATMENTS TO BE APPLIED TO CITY STREETS IN 2016
WHEREAS, the Corcoran City Council determined the application of dust treatments to
City streets to be necessary, cost - effective, and feasible; and
WHEREAS, the Corcoran City Council awarded a contract to Northern Salt
Incorporated (NSI) on March 24, 2016 for the application of calcium chloride to City
streets for dust control in 2016 (the Project); and
WHEREAS, the total cost of the project is estimated to be approximately $106,574.22;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council intends to bill the benefitting property owners for a portion
of the cost of the Project, estimated to be approximately $$49,110.82, and to assess
any unpaid costs to the benefitting properties pursuant to Minnesota Statute §429.101
and Corcoran City Ordinance 2011 -261; and
WHEREAS, under Minn. Stat. §429.031, a Public Hearing needs to be held prior to
adoption of a Special Assessment with proper notice to property owners.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Corcoran City Council:
1. To call a Public Hearing on the potential assessment of costs of calcium
chloride applications to City streets for dust control, in 2016, for May 26,
2016.
2. Directing staff to give the Notice required by Stat. §429.031 to all property
owners who may be assessed for this Project.
