CITY COUNCIL BUDGET WORKSHOP
August 15, 2006
The Corcoran City Council met on August 15, 2006, at city hall in Corcoran,
Minnesota. Present were Mayor Cossette, Councilor Grabowski, and Councilor Call to Order
Thomas. Also present were Administrator Vergin, Police Chief Gormley, and
Public Works Superintendent Pat Meister. Councilor Jacobs and Councilor Roll Call
Lymangood were absent. Mayor Cossette opened the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
Agenda Approval
MOTION by Grabowski, seconded by Thomas, to approve the agenda as Agenda Approval
presented. Voting Aye: Cossette, Grabowski, and Thomas. (Motion carried 3:0)
Public Works Budget
Reviewed the budget for the public works and parks departments. Meister Public Works Budget
explained to the council that the budget for road maintenance has been reactive not
pro - active. The budget that he is proposing is increased to be more pro- active, it
would allow over a ten year period that all gravel streets could be brought up to a
12" standard.
Addressed the accumulated comp time for this department. Meister would like to
see the personnel handbook changed to better address overtime.
Fuel costs are increasing, and they have more equipment that they are now
operating.
Have budgeted for two ditching projects, plus emergency work.
Will be adding Tessmer Road to the dust control program in 2007.
Questioned if monies should be budgeted for the overlaying of Oakdale. This
should be addressed by the Pavement Management Committee.
Councilor Grabowski excused himself at 7:30 p.m.
Next Workshop
It was announced that the next workshop would be held on August 24 at 5:30 p.m.
Adjournment
Due to the lack of a quorum the meeting was adjourned.
