Being outdoors enjoying the sunshine becomes a big part of our lives for the next six months. When much of our time is spent outside, we must be prepared for all types of weather conditions, as the weather dictates much of our spring and summer activities. Severe Weather Awareness Week is April 19-23, 2004. On Thursday, April 22, the City of Corcoran will participate in a statewide Tornado Drill Day. The National Weather Service will simulate a tornado watch beginning at 9:00 a.m. The first tornado drill will take place at 1:45 p.m. and civil defense sirens will be activated throughout the City. The first drill allows schools and businesses the opportunity to practice their severe weather shelter plans. The second drill will take place be at 6:55 p.m., allowing families and second shift employees to practice their severe weather shelter plans. Please take the time to review your plans and replace any needed supplies should a storm or disaster occur. Being prepared could save the lives of you and your loved ones! The Corcoran Police Department is here to serve you. We can be reached at 763-420-8966. As always, it is a privilege to serve you. -- Chief Paul H. Schutte 2003 CITY RECYCLING PROGRAM
