It is intended to establish both a starting point and “views” of how the community would like to evolve over the next 20 years. Your short-term and long-term views should be considered to create the process for achieving the goals. DEFINITIONS SOAR – Strengths, Opportunities, Actions Results NOISE – Needs, Opportunities, Improvements, Strengths, Exceptions Opportunities as well as challenges should be considered but this session is intended to provide an open conversation of what “could be.” As a prelude to the Workshop Session, please consider how you would respond to the following questions. 1) What are three key positive benefits of Corcoran as a place to live, work, grow and do business? What does Corcoran possess that other communities do not or how is Corcoran unique? 2) What is your picture of what Corcoran should be in the future? How would you describe that vision? (as a whole or in various components) 3) What do you believe the challenges (barriers) are to achieving the vision? In thinking about the above three questions, please also consider the following: Strengths – What does Corcoran do best? What can we do better? This may be from a government, resident, business or community view. Opportunities – What can be leveraged in Corcoran’s best interests to reach its goals? 3 MAXFIELD RESEARCH AND CONSULTING Aspirations – What do we want our community to become? What are some key components (structures, places, events, environment) of this? Results – How do we measure progress and results? What would we consider as successes? What is our timeline for success? How can we refine our plan periodically? USE OF MENTIMETER SURVEY SOFTWARE During the session, we will use Mentimeter, an interactive software survey program to record some group responses. Participants will be asked to scan a QR code from the presentation screen which will open the software on a mobile device for the participant to respond to questions that will be shown on the presentation screen. Responses to the questions are recorded and presented in real time. No individual responses are identified in the survey. Discussion will follow. Additional questions/discussion for the session: How do you define “quality of life” in Corcoran? What are some words you would use to describe “quality of life” as it relates to your vision for Corcoran? What has been your one or two most significant concerns as they relate to growth and development in Corcoran over the past five years? What do you believe would be the best way to increase Corcoran’s visibility as a community open and ready for new development? Are there current divergent opinions from the community as to how the City should grow? How would you characterize the most significant constituencies? 4
