HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2006-55 ADOPTING AN ELECTED OFFICIAL AND COMMISSION REIMBURSEMENT TRAINING POLICY Ciry•of Corcoran County ofHennepin State of Minnesota RESOL UTION NO. 2006-SS MOTIONBYMEMBER: Grabowski SECONDED BYMEMBER: Thomas RESOLUTION ADOPTING AN ELECTED OFFICIAL AND COMMISSION REIMBURSEMENT TRAINING POLICY WHEREAS, the City of Corcoran recognizes that elected officials and appointed commissioners receive value from attendance at workshops, conferences, and other educational events; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Corcoran does hereby adopts a policy setting forth the conditions under which such registration expenditures will be reimbursed by the City, as hereto attached as Exhibit A. Exhibit A CITY OF CORCORAN ELECTED OFFICIAL AND COMMISSION REIMBURSEMENT TRAINING POLICY Purpose: The City of Corcoran recognizes that its elected officials and appointed commissioners receive value from attendance at workshops, conferences, and other educational events. This policy sets forth the conditions under which such registration expenditures will be reimbursed by the City. 1. An elected official or commissioner shall make a written request to the City CouncNl in advance for approval to attend a workshop, conference, or educational event that they wish to attend on behalf of the City of Corcoran. The request must include the registration fee. 2. In evaluating the request, the Council will consider whether the individual will be receiving training on issues relevant to the city or to his or her role with the City, and whether the city has sufficient funding available in the budget to pay the expenditure. 3. The request must be approved by the City Council at an open meeting, in the form of a motion. 4. The City may reimburse registration fees up to 50%upon receipt of proof of payment and attendance. 5. The City Council does retain the right to vary from this policy when it has determined that it is in the best interest of the City.
