HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-12-05 Council Minutes190 TRUTH IN TAXATION MEETING CITY OF CORCORAN DECEMBER 5, 1997 CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL Pursuant to due call and notice, a special meeting of the Corcoran City Council was held on Friday, December 5, 1997 at the Corcoran City Hall located at 8200 Co. Rd. 116. Mayor Larkin opened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. Members present: Frank Larkin, Dixie Lindsley, Ernie Mayers, Ken Kluck, and Ken Guenthner. Also present: City Clerk/Treasurer Stacy Doboszenski and City Planner/Administrative Coordinator, Roger Bromander. There were two people present. TRUTH IN TAXATION PUBLIC HEARING Clerk Doboszenski presented the 1998 proposed budget, the difference in the 1997 budget compared to the 1998 budget, and some pie chart comparisons of where property tax dollars go in our community. There was also a discussion on recycling and the increase in recycling for 1998. The Truth in Taxation hearing was open for public comment at 7:15 p.m. The following comments were registered by the public: Louis Lazer, 1121 Jandel Circle NE, St. Michael: Mr. Lazer indicated that he did not have a question on the budget, but he commented on having a house packet available and he was informed that there was one on the front counter. He then commented on the recycling program. There was discussion on recycling between the Council, Clerk, and Mr. Lazer. On a motion by Mayers, seconded by Muck, to close the public hearing at 7:25 p.m. DISCUSSION There was a discussion on Greg Ebert's application included in the upcoming planning commission items to be on the December 11, 1997 City Council meeting. There was a discussion on what to do with the old City Hall, the possible purchasing of the Burschville shop, and the tower located at the Burschville site.
