Mayor Guenthner reconvened the workshop at 6:00 p.m., on October 11, 2001, a
continuation from September 13, 2001. The purpose of the meeting was to address
the City Codes.
Present were Councilors Gageby, Gmach, Guenthner and Thomas, Administrator
Colotti, Attorney Jeff Carson and City Clerk Vergin. Councilor Bucher was
absent.
The Council picked up from where it had left off from the last workshop.
Animals
Attorney Carson distributed information regarding feedlots and animal units, as
requested from the last workshop.
Key points from the discussion included:
• 3 acres and less no animal units allowed
• 3.1 to 30 acres – animal units restricted
• Over 30 acres – consider farming
• Ag land definition needs to be more specific
• Setbacks need to be determined
• Waste disposal to be done according to best farm management practices
• Use animal units identified in the State Statutes
Staff was directed to calculate out scenarios using the animal unit equivalents
identified by the State for the next workshop.
The scenarios are to include 3.1 acre = 1 animal unit, then from that point on for
each additional two-thirds of an acre one additional animal unit would be
permitted. Calculate out for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 acre parcels.
Mayor Guenthner recessed the workshop at 6:50 p.m., and announced that it would
be continued on November 8, 2001 at 6:00 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted:
