The purpose of the meeting was to address the City Codes. Present were Councilors Gageby, Gmach, Guenthner and Thomas, Administrator Colotti, Attorney Jeff Carson and City Clerk Vergin. Councilor Bucher was absent. The Council picked up from where it had left off from the last workshop. Animals Attorney Carson distributed information regarding feedlots and animal units, as requested from the last workshop. Key points from the discussion included: • 3 acres and less no animal units allowed • 3.1 to 30 acres – animal units restricted • Over 30 acres – consider farming • Ag land definition needs to be more specific • Setbacks need to be determined • Waste disposal to be done according to best farm management practices • Use animal units identified in the State Statutes Staff was directed to calculate out scenarios using the animal unit equivalents identified by the State for the next workshop. The scenarios are to include 3.1 acre = 1 animal unit, then from that point on for each additional two-thirds of an acre one additional animal unit would be permitted. Calculate out for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 acre parcels.
