Mayor Guenthner opened the workshop at 6:00 p.m., on May 24, 2001. The
purpose of the workshop was to address the employee handbook and municipal
codes.
Present were Councilors Bucher, Guenthner and Thomas, Administrator Colotti,
Clerk Vergin and Attorney Carson. Councilor Gageby arrived later.
The council continued review of the employee handbook from May 10, 2001.
Insurance (Short Term Disability) - Administrator Colotti will survey the
employees to see if they would be interested in short term disability, 100% paid by
employees – no city contribution, but need 100% participation.
FMLA – The City is required to abide by this State program, therefore the
handbook will reflect that.
Vacation – Increase carry over to 25 days.
Personal Leave – Effective January 1, 2002, 16 hours of sick time will no longer
be allowed to be converted to personal leave.
Part Time Sick and Vacation Accrual - This will be adjusted to state that Part Time
must be 30 hours or more a week to qualify for these benefits. A separate
agreement will be made for existing part time employees working less than 30
hours / week.
Medical Insurance – No changes are being recommended.
Holidays – One additional holiday is being added, Friday after Thanksgiving.
Holidays (Part Time Employees) – Left off at this point.
It was the consensus of the council to set the next workshop for June 21, 2001 at
6:00 p.m.
A motion was made to adjourn the workshop.
