Acting Mayor Gmach opened the workshop at 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 9,
2002. The purpose of the workshop was to address staffing in the city office.
Present were Councilors Bucher, Gageby, Gmach and Thomas, Administrator
Vergin and Police Chief Schutte.
Discussed the City Clerk/Treasurer position. It was the consensus to place this on
the council agenda following the workshop to consider starting the process of
hiring to fill this position.
Addressed the draft job description for a Code Enforcement Official. Staff was
directed to make some adjustments to the description.
Staff was further directed to review the budget, both expenditures and revenues,
and analyze how existing and proposed positions will fit into the current budget.
Addressed planning. At this time it is recommended that planning continue at the
current status. Administrator Vergin informed the council that it is her intent that
with additional staff coming on board, more planning matters would be handled
in-house.
A future workshop will be scheduled when staff has finished preparing the
information on the budget and the job description.
MOTION by Thomas, seconded by Bucher to adjourn at 6:46 p.m. Voting Aye:
Bucher, Gageby, Gmach and Thomas.
