HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-2-26 Council Meeting218 CITY COUNCIL MEETING �•+� FEBRUARY 26, 1998 CALL TO QRDER/RQLL Mayor Larkin called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. Members present were: Mayor Larkin and City Councilors: Ken Guenthner, Dixie Lindsley, and Ken Kluck. Members absent: Ernie Mayers. Also present: City Clerk Stacy Doboszenski, City Planner Roger Bromander, Public Works Lead Persons Pat Meister and Bob Krei, and Clyde Bechtold. There were two people in attendance at the meeting. SET AGENDA The following items were added to the agenda: • Rockford High School request to use Civic Center OPEN FORUM Mayor Larkin commented that the new grader was delivered today and informed the rest of the Council that Daniel Lange donated his trucking for the delivery of the grader. CONSENT AGEND Councilor Kluck questioned the Clerk on the election equipment purchase. On a motion by Kluck , seconded by Lindsley, to approve the following consent agenda items: • Approval of List of Claims #168 - 192 • Approval of the February 12, 1998 City Council Minutes • Conceptual Approval of Hennepin County Election Equipment Purchase • Approval of Crop Rental Bid to Ken Williams for Property Located South of City Hall • Approval of Crop Rental Bid to Daryl Patnode for Property Located South of Schulte Road + Approval of Resolution No. 1998 - 07, A RESOLUTION APPROVING A TEMPORARY GAMBLING LICENSE TO THE WEST SUBURBAN CHAPTER OF THE MINNESOTA DEER HUNTERS ASSOCIATION FOR THE SALE OF RAFFLE TICKETS FOR JUNE 30, 1998 AT THE COUNTRY PIZZA PARLOR • Approval of Resolution No. 1998 - 08, A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF 1998 GRANT APPLICATION FOR RECYCLING AND EXECUTION OF GRANT AGREEMENT Motion carried unanimously. DISCUSSION Correspondence Councilor Guenthner informed the Council of a letter received from the union regarding the bargaining unit for the department heads. Guenthner stated that there needs to be a response from the City to the union representative. Council directed Clerk to speak with the City Attorney on drafting a letter regarding the members unit. Councilor Lindsley then referred to a letter from Kate Jacobsen requesting the opportunity to do an administrative internship at the City. Council directed the Clerk to draft a letter to Ms. Jacobsen thanking her for her interest. Approval of Laser Level from Northwest Lasers Inc, There was a brief discussion on the laser level and the cost. On a motion by Lindsley, seconded by Kluck to approve the purchase of the Laser Level from Northwest Lasers Inc. Motion carried unanimously. Damage to Snow PI,Qw Truck Councilor Lindsley questioned what is happening with the damage to the plow truck. Pat Meister informed the Council that the insurance company is seeking reimbursement from Mr. Steven's insurance company, and if they are reimbursed, the City will receive their $500 deductible back. Rockford High Sclwol &Quest to Use Civic On a motion by Lindsley, seconded by Guenthner to approve the use of the Civic Center room by the Rockford High School from midnight to 1:30 a.m. June 2nd. Motion carried unanimously. ADJO Mayor Larkin adjourned the meeting at 7:16 p.m. ATTEST: vw Mayor 219
